muthmir: Cultivating New Beginnings – Oral Histories

The Arab American National Museum is excited to announce a new initiative that aligns with the season theme, مثمر / muthmir: Cultivating New Beginningsa rooftop garden expected to open in May 2023!

The garden will feature plants found in the Arab world and will demonstrate how Dearborn has preserved the plants of their homelands to continue to grow them in Michigan. AANM will collect these plants via donation from the Museum’s neighbors, whether it be an heirloom seed or a cutting. In addition, AANM Community Historian Shatha Najim will be interviewing home gardeners and adding their personal stories to the AANM archive, educating the community for years to come.
