Award-winning rapper / poet Omar Offendum first began his theatrical journey here in Michigan back in 2019 during a residency with UMS and presentation at AANM. Since then, his genre-bending performance project ‘Little Syria’ has sold-out dozens of shows across the country at iconic venues like the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Public Theater, Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music, and Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA. In the lead-up to his first showing in Dearborn on November 14th at the Ford Performing Arts Center, Offendum joins the AANM community once again to talk about the importance of identity-affirming creative expression and the importance of intergenerational art & storytelling in the Arabic-speaking world.
