Al Hadiqa: The Mymonie Elhage Jabara Heritage Garden
In the community garden of the Arab American National Museum, Villa Albertine’s artists Suraia Abud and Violaine Barrois will propose a public gathering, in the form of a community event, showcasing their work-in-progress and research. Storytelling will unfold through a “show and tell” format, where participants present kitchen and food-related objects and utensils.
These objects will serve as entry points to share personal and intergenerational narratives, connecting memory, migration, and everyday practices. The event will create an intimate space for exchange, where stories, gestures, and material culture come together to make the invisible visible: what we inherit, what we care for, what remains alive.
The event is supported by Villa Albertine Chicago (French Institute for Culture and Education in the US).
