SWANA Women’s Stories: Dialogue & Workshop

Online via Zoom
FREE with RSVP

Learn to document and share your story! Connect with theatre artists, artist-in-residence Denmo Ibrahim and Heather Raffo to share and discuss lived experiences of SWANA women. Your story could help influence the character development and script of a new play, TALATA*, by Denmo Ibrahim!

This workshop is open to/a safe space for SWANA (Southwest Asia / North Africa) women only.

*TALATA, an adaptation of Three Sisters, seeks to challenge racist notions of culturally specific work and caricatures of Arabs, Muslims and those from the Middle East on stage. By working with a classic text and re-imagining it in Dearborn, Michigan, working directly with the local Arab community, TALATA would explore classism, misogyny, colonialism and Islamophobia from an interior perspective of being Arab, Muslim, female and American.

Due to the pandemic, we have been closed to the public since March 13, 2020. Closed doors mean that our earned revenue streams have dried up, and corporate funds have been pivoted to assist with COVID-19 relief or for their own financial survival. We are looking forward to the day we can safely reopen, but until then, we need your support.

Your donation today will help us weather this crisis.
