Kasan Belgrave and his band join AANM for live music on the rooftop.
Woodwind specialist, recording artist, and composer Kasan Belgrave is one of the rising talents in Detroit’s young generation of jazz. His energetic playing style and improvisational finesse is an expression of fusion and gospel, while keeping the tradition of jazz and feel-good blues firm at his core. Well-versed across many idioms of modern genres – the kind, mature, and witty poise of the young saxophonist can easily keep any audience intrigued until dawn. An active workhorse in the Detroit jazz & electronic music scene, Belgrave has also made his marks all over the globe; he’s toured as a multi-woodwind instrumentalist with Jazz @ Lincoln Center w/ Wynton Marsalis. At age 16, he toured Barbados with his father, Marcus Belgrave, teaching clinics and performing through a US Embassy exchange program. In April 2025, he toured as a young ambassador in his second motherland, Japan, through the Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation, instructing masterclasses at various Japanese universities. Kasan’s first album, entitled “Dual Citizen”, was released on January 3rd, 2025, and is currently working on his next leader project, and others.
