Little Amal is the giant, 12-foot puppet of a 10 year old Syrian refugee, who is in search of her mother and a new place in the world to call home. Little Amal comes to life in “The Walk,” a captivating production that tells Amal’s poignant life story. Her journey, a search for her mother and a quest for safety is both heart-wrenching and inspiring. Over the last 2 years, she has embodied the hopes, dreams and resilience of displaced children worldwide.

There are tens of thousands of people across the world who fled persecution, war and poverty in search of a brighter future. Half of them being children who are devoid the opportunity of a formal education, they are in dire need of our support. Little Amal is their voice, and along with her, WE can be their hope.

Her story has never been so close to home as she arrives in Dearborn! Amal suddenly recognizes smells and sounds that feel tantalizingly close to home. She is overwhelmed and emotional and very, very homesick…

This parade-style gathering will be an opportunity to build a stronger, more inclusive society we all dream of. The event promises to be an inspiring and heartwarming experience and a chance to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for making a positive impact.
