See 63 images in both color and black and white by Detroit and Dearborn middle school students of the 2008-09 SURA Arts Academy, the free youth photography program of the Arab American National Museum.
During weekly classroom sessions and field trips led by AANM educators and student photographers from the renowned College for Creative Studies, students learn to see their neighborhood and the greater community in a fresh, new way while learning the mechanics of photography with Museum-supplied digital cameras.
SURA Arts Academy was honored with the 2008 Coming Up Taller Award for exemplary youth after-school programs from the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. For details on SURA Arts Academy, contact Celia Shallal at 313.624.0210 or HERE.
