The Paintings of Alya Husseini

Alya Husseini

Exhibit opens on August 18, and runs through November 30, 2006.

Husseini uses her artwork as a vehicle to educate fellow Americans about Arab society and to depict the rich cultural heritage of the Arab world.   She derives her inspiration from pictures in books and her travels to places like Syria, Morocco, Egypt, and Lebanon.   Husseini uses oil and canvas to capture images of tree lined streets, historic houses and people in traditional dress.  Self-taught, she has been painting since 1988.

The Alya Husseini Exhibit is made possible by the Wallace Foundation.
